Dorsey Drops Out Of Contention For East Ridge City Manager

Thursday, May 9, 2013

Former Red Bank City Manager Chris Dorsey won't be the new city manager for East Ridge.

East Ridge Interim City Attorney Hal North said he received an email from Mr. Dorsey on Wednesday saying he was withdrawing as a candidate.

The East Ridge City Council, at a special Saturday night session, had offered him the job at a pay level of $120,000. Mr. Dorsey said at the time he was not ready to make a decision.

Then it was announced that he was also a finalist for Signal Mountain City Manager.

He appeared Tuesday night at a reception for the three Signal finalists.

The Signal Mountain job pays around $90,000 at the high range.

Mr. Dorsey told the East Ridge City Council he is still on an insurance plan he had when he worked for the city of Memphis, so he does not need insurance coverage by the city that hires him.

He currently is budget director for Pasco County, Fla., though his wife and three children continue to live here.
