New Traffic Signal Timing Plan Operating On Highway 153

  • Thursday, June 27, 2013

The City of Chattanooga’s Traffic Engineer’s Office announced Thursday that a new traffic signal timing plan has been introduced and is now operating on Highway 153 in Hixson between DuPont Parkway and Boy Scout Road.  Drivers should expect to see changes in how the signals operate.

As an example, a left turn arrow might precede the through movement or follow it, depending on the time of day.  These variations are designed to maximize traffic flow and ultimately reduce delay for traffic on Highway 153, as well as the side streets.

These signal modifications are part of the on-going Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) signal improvement program underway in the City.

For more information, contact the City Traffic Engineer’s Office at 643-5950.
