Joe Brown Joins Orange Grove Center's Board Of Directors

Orange Grove Center welcomes Joe Brown to the Center’s board of directors.  Mr. Brown is the Market President for BB&T Bank’s Chattanooga commercial team, where he is responsible for community, professional, government, business and civic banking activities.

Brown has a bachelor of science in business administration, finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he was also an ordained Baptist minister, football player and campus ministry leader.  He received a master of business administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2006. 

He began his 14-year career as an account executive for SunTrust Bank in Knoxville, where he was also a member of the Million-Dollar Club of the bank’s mortgage department.  Within months, the Chattanooga native returned home to manage a top tier branch of SunTrust with assets over $60 million.  The same year, he was promoted to Business Banking Officer and Vice President, receiving praise as Business Banker of the Year and awards as top 10 to 13 percent producer in a corporation. 

In 2005, he was honored as top producer in loans for all branch locations, and again in 2006 with the Superior Branch Performance Award at First Volunteer Bank, as their Market Leader and Commercial Lender and Vice President. 

In 2007, he joined BB&T as Commercial Relationship Manager and Vice President, managing portfolios of commercial clients typically with sales from $5 to $75 Million.  For his work, he was honored as the Sterling Performance Winner for the 4th Quarter 2010 and Annual Winner 2012.

In addition to Orange Grove, his board involvement has included Cherokee Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board  (2013 president); YMCA of Metro Chattanooga (Christian Emphasis Committee Chair);  J.A. Henry Branch YMCA (Chair); and the Bethlehem Center.

Joe and his wife, Derrica, are the parents of twin daughters, Madison and Makayla, and son, Joel.
