J.B. Wilson Jr., 85, of Dayton, TN, died on Monday, July 15, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Dayton on June 10, 1928 to the late Johnny and Effie (Kaylor) Wilson; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara (Potter) Wilson; two brothers, H.A. Wilson and Edward Wilson; and his sister, Peggy Novoa.
J.B. made a life-long commitment to serving his country. He was a Navy Seabee veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War, where he was a recipient of the combat action medal with a V for valor. He was also an honorary member of the Fleet Reserve. He spent many hours creating beautiful woodworks, having lost several fingers to show for it. He was a faithful servant of God and his church and was always there to lend a helping hand for family and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Myra) Wilson and Randy (Sherri) Wilson, both of Dayton; his daughter, Joyce (Herb) Johnson of Billings, MT; his brother, Bob (Brenda) Wilson of Evensville; two granddaughters, Heather (Josh) Nevels of Chattanooga and Christina (John) Tollett of Pikeville; his grandson, Daniel (Ashley) Braun of Evensville; six great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Reba.
A memorial service followed by full military honors for J.B. will be held Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at the Spivey Memorial United Methodist Church in Dayton with his pastor, Rev. Bill Ewing officiating.
