Memorial Names Hospital Presidents

Memorial Health Care System has revised its leadership structure to better meet the challenges of operating and delivering healthcare in the communities it serves, said officials.

The role of president and chief executive officer transitioned to chief executive officer of Memorial Health Care System and each of the system’s hospitals, Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital Hixson, now has a president to focus on overall operational management of their respective facilities in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Memorial. 

James M. Hobson is chief executive officer of Memorial Health Care System. As CEO, Mr. Hobson will focus his efforts on strategies to integrate and enhance the care continuum across the region.

Debra L. Moore is president of Memorial Hospital Hixson. Ms. Moore previously served as senior vice president, Memorial Hospital Hixson. Ms. Moore joined Memorial in 1987 as a graduate nurse and has served in a variety of leadership roles throughout her Memorial tenure. Ms. Moore is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelor of science degree in nursing and holds masters' degrees in business administration and nursing from Southern Adventist University.  

Ricky D. Napper is president of Memorial Hospital. Mr. Napper most recently served as president/chief executive officer of Magnolia Regional Health Center, a 200-bed located in Corinth, Ms.  Mr. Napper has more than 18 years of healthcare leadership experience at several systems throughout the South.  At Magnolia Regional Health Center, he served as president/CEO since 2004. During his tenure there, he led the organization to achieve 100 Top Hospital and “Most Wired” Hospital designations, while overseeing construction of a new patient tower, cancer center and heart and vascular center.  Formerly, he was chief executive officer of Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va.; president/chief executive officer of Crittenden Health Systems, Marion, Ky.; and spent 21 years with the Army armed forces.

He received a master’s degree in business from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a bachelor of science degree in health care management from Park College, Mo.; and a licensed practical nurse diploma from Academy of Health Sciences, Fort Sam, Houston, Texas.  He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been active in numerous civic organizations, including the Rotary Club.

Diabetes Awareness Seminar Offered Nov. 5

Fire Displaces Family Of 7; Blaze Ruled Accidental

No injuries were reported in connection with a house fire on Saturday afternoon that displaced a family of seven. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 4:11 p.m. and responded to 3308 Dodson Ave. with five fire companies. Clarence Ross, Leshawn Witherow Shot On Walden Avenue Friday Afternoon

Chattanooga Police are investigating a shooting that happened early Friday afternoon at the 6300 block of Walden Avenue.  Clarence Ross, 41, And Leshawn Witherow, 40, suffered non-life threatening injuries.  Hamilton County EMS transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment.  There is no suspect information at this time.  Investigators with ...
