Chattanooga Police officers were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy at 1150 Hixson Pike, on Thursday, at 5:20 p.m. on a call of a robbery from the business.
Officers spoke with Tom Rawls, 54, the pharmacist, who stated that Thomas Holland, 47, showed a black gun and forced his way into the pharmacy. Holland demanded pills and told Mr. Rawls to drive him away. Mr. Rawls then picked up a metal pipe and subdued Holland until police arrived.
Holland sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
