Retired From Memorial Hospital After 35 Years

Shirley Ann Gilbert Williams, 67, died on July 21, 2013 in Chattanooga.  

She was retired from Memorial Hospital after 35 years of service.  She  was a faithful member of Resurrected Baptist Church.

Ms. Shirley served as block leader for Glenwood Association; member of the Usher Board at Resurrected Baptist Church and member of the Citizen’s Police at Chattanooga Police Department.  She enjoyed attending sport activities of her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Cleo Watkins Gilbert; granddaughter, Erica Bone.

Survivors include her sons, Eric Bone and Tim (Melinda) Bone, Chattanooga; daughters, Sabrina (Martin) Kincaid, Acworth, GA, and Chandra Freeman(Johnny) McFarland, Chattanooga; brother, Thomas “Junior” Gamble, Chattanooga; sisters, Polly (Willie) Hinton, Chattanooga, and Patricia Huff, Tampa, FL; goddaughter, Shawndra (Vantz) Singletary, Forest, VA; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; devoted friend, Chris Horseman; several nephews, nieces and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, at noon at Resurrected Baptist Church with Elder Eddie Darryl Jacks officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.

The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, from 7–8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
