Dr. J. Paul Dittmann, executive director of The Global Supply Chain Institute at the University of Tennessee, has been named to the Kenco Board of Directors.

Kenco is a leading provider of distribution and fulfillment, transportation services and intelligent information technology. Jane Kennedy Greene, Kenco chairwoman and CEO, said Dr. Dittmann will expand the diversity of background and experience on the board.

“Not only does Paul bring a respected record in supply chain academics and research, but he also had a 32-year career in the logistics industry,” said Ms. Greene. “He knows both the theory and the practice of what we do every day at Kenco, which is to deliver common sense solutions that result in uncommon value for our customers.”

Commenting on his appointment, Dr. Dittmann said, “Kenco is a great third party logistics provider with a long and rich history of success. I’m proud to be associated with them.”

In his current position, Dr. Dittmann is responsible for the University of Tennessee Supply Chain Forum, which has more than 50 sponsoring companies. In addition, he teaches supply chain management courses in UT’s College of Business Administration and lectures in its executive education programs. In 2013, SCM Operations named him one of the top ten global supply chain thought leaders.

Prior to his academic years, he held executive supply chain management positions with Fortune 150 companies. He is a published author of several books and articles, including New Supply Chain Agenda and Supply Chain Transformation, and Harvard Business Review’s “Are You the Weakest Link in Your Supply Chain."

Signal Mountain Should Be Problem Solvers Around The City

Re: Roy Exum’s “Stay, Signal Mountain, Stay”  Well this article is something to think about. I think the split could go either way, and Signal Mountain schools would still flourish, as they have done for the past several years. What I'm worried about is why Signal Mountain has not yet had the guts to go be problem solvers at Howard, or Tyner, or Central. Why do ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: How Would I Vote?

I don’t know what to think or who to believe in the debacle surrounding Alabama’s Roy Moore and his quest for a Senate seat. I have no earthly idea what he did or how he acted 40 years ago. Heck, I can’t remember what I did or how I acted 40 years ago but I do recall I kissed some minors back then. To be real honest, they were the only ones that would let me, this because I was ...
