Whitfield County Educators Receive International Award

Educators from Whitfield County Schools accepted a Project SEARCH Employment Outcome Award at the annual international convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. For the second year running, the local Project SEARCH program, a partnership between Whitfield County Schools, Dalton Public Schools, Vocational Rehabilitation, CrossPlains Community Partner, and Hamilton Medical Center, earned an Employment Outcome Award.

 

School system faculty work with Hamilton Medical Center and other employers to employee people with disabilities. Special Education Coordinator Kathy Reed thanked all of her colleagues who have helped students in the program achieve such phenomenal success.

"We are so proud to receive this award and I thank all of you for your part in the journey!" she said.



Red Bank High School JROTC Raider Are Tennessee State Champions

The Red Bank High School JROTC Raider are the Tennessee State Champions and also the Hamilton County Department of Education JROTC Raider Conference. The State Championship contest was held at Soddy Daisy on Sept. 23, and the Conference Championships finished on Sept. 26. (click for more)

The Deer Decline At Enterprise South Nature Park

There are now 11 fewer deer to see at Enterprise Nature Park. The hunters snuck another one in secretly so as not to cause controversy.   I go to that park three or four times a week, and haven't seen any deer for months, and I used to see them all the time.
