Former Chattanooga Woman Killed In Bus Wreck With Husband; 2-Year-Old Son Survives

A former Chattanooga woman was killed in a church bus wreck in Indianapolis on Saturday along with her husband. The two-year-old son of Courtney Popow Phelps and Chad Phelps survived.

One other person died when the bus careened out of control and landed on its side.

Ms. Phelps was expecting the couple's second child in September.

Chad Phelps was the youth minister at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, where his father, Chuck Phelps, is the senior pastor.

Ms. Phelps was born in Chattanooga and her family attended Grace Baptist Church.

She and her husband attended Bob Jones University.  

The group was returning from a summer church camp in Michigan and was just a couple of miles from the church when the wreck happened.
