"Coach Will Healy is our guy for style, uniform look and music."
-- UTC head coach Russ Huesman
For the first time in the Russ Huesman Era and maybe in any UTC grid era, there was hip-hop music at practice Wed. afternoon.
"I was asked if we could have music at practice and I said okay," said Huesman. "I liked a couple of the songs."
Hey Coach Healy ... request for some variety .
"If possible, maybe they can throw in some country music," Huesman stated when asked about his choice of tunes.
One writer (with possibly a vote from coach Healy's dad) suggested an oldies song sprinkled in here and there.
Doo-Wop and '60s Girl Groups
(editor's note: before the players revolt or lose their pre-practice meal, they might take a listen)
"Be My Baby" by the Ronettes (trust me, it has a great beat)
"Run Around Sue" by hall of famer Dion DiMucci (pronounced Dah Moo-Chee)
Coach Jeff Durden might even like "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison from the movie with same name
or "Little Darlin" by the Diamonds or "Runaway" by Del Shannon (American Grafitti)
or maybe the players can give the U.S. Olympic Swim Team a run for their money and top its choreography to the sounds of "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen
or "Who Says You Can't Go Home" by Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles (2008)
or "Standing in the Shadows of Love" by the Four Tops
... and some players might look at the oldies list request and point to Buddy Holly's hit "That'll Be The Day" (American Grafitti) as their answer to any pre-2000 music. !!
By the end of pre-season practice coach Healy might be known as a combination of singer Jay-Z and D.J. legends Wolfman Jack (American Grafitti), Casey Kasem, Dick Clark and even local icon Tommy Jett.
stay tuned ...
