Rosie Riveter During World War II Enjoyed Volunteering In Several Places

Betty Jean Draganac, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.  She was 89.

Ms. D was born and raised in Chattanooga and was a 1942 graduate of Chattanooga High School.  She was a Rosie Riveter during World War II.  Ms. D was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church.  She loved to volunteer with many different groups and organization and loved her time volunteering at Memorial Hospital. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward F. Draganac.

Betty Jean is survived by her four children, Peter, Margaret, John and Michael (Tina) Draganac; two grandchildren, Rachel and Eric Draganac and two great grandchildren; sister, Helen Cox and one niece and one nephew.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at the North Chapel.

Services for Betty Jean will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest by her late husband. 

The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at 7625 Hamilton Park Drive, Suite 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421 or the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or 800-342-2383.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
