Cleveland Police said they got word on Sunday night that a woman had sent a text saying she had just shot her boyfriend. Police went to the woman's residence and found the boyfriend's body.

A caller notified the 911 Communications Center of a text that Alina Sherlin sent "informing several different parties that she had shot her boyfriend, Robert D. Julian, 45."

Officers responded to 1908 Greenwood Ave. and made contact with Ms. Sherlin. However, she would not allow officers in her residence to conduct a welfare check.

Officers went around to the back of the residence to look through windows. They then saw the body of a male lying on the living room floor. Next to the body, the officers observed a rifle, so the officers made entry into the residence.

Officers discovered Mr. Julian dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Ms. Sherlin, 43, was placed in custody and charged with first-degree murder.
