Pregnant Teenager Shot On East 23rd Street Tuesday Morning

A suspect is being sought after shooting a pregnant teenager Tuesday morning.

At approximately 11:13 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting at 2243 East 25th St., where they found a 16-year-old girl who had been shot in the lower back. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury.  

It was reported to detectives that several people were standing outside the residence when the suspect shot her and fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV. 

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.
