Street Closings Announced For The Weekend

Douglas Street and Palmetto Street at 8th Street, University Street and Baldwin Street at McCallie Avenue and University Street at ML King Boulevard will be closed from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday for the UTC Freshman Move-In.  Buses traveling to Brown Academy should enter the blocked area at Baldwin Street and McCallie Avenue and exit at Palmetto and Douglas Streets for emergency or maintenance traffic.

Reggie White Boulevard, between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park, West 19th Street between Reggie White Boulevard and Chestnut Street and Chestnut Street between West 19th Street and West 17th Street will be closed from 4:30-11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, for the High School Football Jamboree.

ML King Boulevard between Broad Street and Georgia Avenue and Market Street between East 8th Street and East 10th street will be closed from 5:30 p.m.-midnight on Friday, for the Nightfall Concert Series.  The 800 block of Cherry Street will be closed at ML King Boulevard and will only be accessible from East 8th Street. There will be limited handicapped parking in the 900 block of Georgia Avenue on the Miller Park side on the meters covered with Orange "reserved" bags.

Reggie White Boulevard, between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday, for the Chattanooga Market.

"Memphis Belle" Takes Flight Over Chattanooga

Westfield Charged In Burning, Torture Of Kitten At Cleveland

An arrest has been made in the case of a kitten who was burned and tortured in Cleveland, Tn. At 12:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Gary A. Westfield, 31, of Cleveland, was placed in custody on a warrant obtained by Lt. Robert Harbison and Detective Matt Jenkins of the Criminal Investigations Division.
