Chattanooga East Lake Postal Finance Station To Close

Friday, August 16, 2013

The Chattanooga East Lake Finance Station at 2600 East 34th Street will be emergency suspended effective Friday, Aug. 30.

“The Postal Service could not come to financial terms with the lessor,” said Chattanooga Postmaster Pete Dechelle. “Due to the financial constraints under which the USPS is operating, we’re going to emergency suspend this facility.”

Operations will be relocated to Chattanooga South Station, 1101 W. 40th St. Post Office Box holders are being notified directly regarding post office box and delivery options.

There are no carriers located at East Lake; street delivery in the 37407 zip code area will be unaffected by this change. This is a retail-only station with post office boxes.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
