UTC's 2nd Scrimmage Recap

Nick Pollard is 4-5 on Field Goals

Friday, August 16, 2013 - by B.B. Branton

"Terrell (Robinson) was the bright spot on offense …  He did some nice things at quarterback as he is so illusive."

UTC offensive coordinator Jeff Durden

In the final scrimmage of pre-season – Friday afternoon at Finley Stadium -  UTC head coach Russ Huesman  saw some bright spots, countered by some sloppy play.

“I am probably never happy,” said Huesman.

“Satisfield? No … Best camp we could have had?  Probably not.”

“Yet today we put the guys in lots of situations, including some game management plays which was good.

(Scrimmage Stats at end of story)

Scoring and Defense:

Touchdown passes by Jacob Huesman (2) (to Terrell Robinson, 53 yards and to Faysal Shafaat, 5 yards) and Terrell Robinson (to Xavier Borishade, 43 yards) ... Nick Pollard converted on four of five field goals ... Alex Kirby had an interception and pass break-up and Taylor Reynolds had a quarterback sack ... defensive tackle Derrick Lott had five tackles for loss

Plenty of Options ... nine Mocs caught at least one pass with T-Rob leading with 5 catches for 124 yards and the one score

Coach Huesman’s Comments on Kicking:

Good Kicking Game: “Nick Pollard did a good job on field goals (4 of 5) … he’s been way too quick on getting to the ball so we slowed him down and the results were positive today.”

Pollard was good from 30 on the opening drive by the No.1 offense … followed by a 37 yarder … and then a 44 yarder which would have been a career-long if kicked in a game … he also converted the extra point after a 53-yard TD pass and catch from Jacob Huesman to Terrell Robinson on the fifth series. … he then missed one from 45, but split the uprights from 37 at the end of practice.

Henrique Ribeiro missed s 38 yarder

Jeff Durden, Offensive Coordinator's Comments

“Running game was good … Terrell Robinson was the bright spot as he is so illusive … Jacob threw okay and had the long touchdown pass to Terrell, but of course made a mistake on the interception (by Alex Kirby) … those mistakes can be fixed.”

Randy Smith: Dabo's Dilemma

Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney was recently notified that he would be receiving an award from the Palmetto Family Council for his charitable work. Sounds okay to me, but what Dabo didn't take into consideration right away is the fact that the Palmetto Family Council is an ultra conservative, right-wing organization that opposes gay marriage. They also believe in homosexual ... (click for more)

City Judges Say Court Operation is Making Money, "We Stay Busy"

City Judges Russell Bean and Sherry Paty told members of the City Council on Tuesday that the court is making money and "we stay busy." Judge Bean said, "Judge Paty is totally loaded down, and I'm close to it." At a budget hearing, Councilman Chris Anderson quizzed the judges on their "typical weekly schedule." The two judges share a courtroom at the Courts Building. They ... (click for more)

Who Do School Board Members Really Represent

School Board member David Testerman said "shame" on the taxpayers for opposing a tax increase and therefore not giving our kids what they need."  Please explain to us how an "across the board pay raise" which includes highly paid administrators, principals, and assistant principals does anything for the children (over 275 making over $100,000 a year).  Good teachers, yes, ... Roy Exum: Is Somebody Evil Coming?

In the spring of 2012 I wrote a story about a heinous lout named Jackie McConnell who I found out was coming to Chattanooga. Jackie had just “starred” in undercover tape that was shown around the world of him savagely beating a Tennessee Walking Horse with a 2-by-4 board and sadistically “soring” the animals so the resulting pain would make the horse do an unnatural dance called ...
