Chattanooga Central Announces Sports Hall of Fame

Fabulous 14 forms Inaugural Class

They are known as the Fabulous 14 who wore the Purple and Gold of Chattanooga Central High School.

The accomplishments of the athletes and coaches who will form the school's inaugural hall of fame class are impressive. Their impact in the world of sports has reached well beyond 500 Dodds Avenue and Highway 58.

The lives and achievements of Etter, Farmer, Test, McCoy, Slaten, Hoppe and more have touched national caliber levels from football to basketball to baseball, golf to boxing and softball.

Homecoming Oct. 11-12: One hundred years of athletic greatness will be honored on Fri. Oct 11 at  the Central-Brainerd football game.

Fri. Oct 11

4:30 p.m. - hall of fame bar-b-que dinner

6:40 p.m. - inductees will be introduced on the football game

7:30 p.m. - Football Game- Brainerd vs. Central

Sat. Oct 12

Hall of Fame Golf Tourney: Sat. Oct. 12 - Bear Trace in Harrison .

Noon - $100 per player ... $400 per team ... awards dinner to follow the golf tournament.

Green Hat Trick Leads Hixson Past Red Bank 5-1

Chattanooga Volleyball Falls To Kennesaw State In Three Straight

The Chattanooga Mocs volleyball team fell 3-0 Tuesday night at Maclellan Gym, dropping its home opener to Kennesaw State 25-14, 25-21 and 25-23. “We were our own worst enemy in this match,” Head Coach Travis Filar said.  “Not taking anything away from Kennesaw State, though.  They are a well-coached team, but we gave them too many points on errors.” Sophomore ... Rhasean Lowry, 34, Charged In Death of 3-Year-Old Girl

Rhasean Lowry, 34, was arrested for abusing a three-year-old girl, and then criminal homicide after she died. Last Tuesday, the Chattanooga Police Department was called on a suspected child abuse case. Lowry took the victim to a local hospital and he stated the victim fell down steps. City IDB Member Who Made Motion For $9 Million Black Creek TIF Had Not Lived In City For Years

A City Industrial Development Board (IDB) member who made the motion to approve a controversial $9 million Black Creek Tax Increment Financing (TIF) had not lived in the city for years, City Attorney Wade Hinton confirmed. Corinne Hill claims that the library is just undergoing a normal weeding process for eliminating books.  She has bragged that she's responsible for the elimination of over 100,000 books - with more to go.
