DesJarlais Says He Was Giving "Honest Answer" To Girl On Father's Deportation

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

Congressman Scott DesJarlais on Tuesday defended his answer to a young girl on whether her father, an illegal immigant, should be deported.

He said, “I felt I owed Ms. Molina an honest answer to her question. We are a nation of laws and breaking those laws have consequences. While this country has always had a generous immigration policy, we simply cannot condone individuals coming here illegally.

As a member of Congress, I strongly believe I have a responsibility to be truthful, even if that means delivering difficult news.”

A YouTube video of the exchange at a Rutherford County town hall meeting has gone viral.

The question was asked by 11-year-old Josie Molina, who said she was worried about her father, Milton Molina.

An immigrant from El Salvador, he has been going through deportation proceedings for several months.

Bobby Stone, Is It Really A Win?

It brought a smile to my face this morning when I saw where the case was thrown out of court against Mr. Stone and the domestic violence charge.  I have supported his cause from the beginning, but I do feel heartbreak because his personal life had to be tossed out there for all of us to see.   I truly hope and pray things turn around for him and his wife, while I feel ... Roy Exum: Prayer Over Despair

As a strong proponent of early voting, I joined hundreds at the Hamilton County Election Commission headquarters on Amnicola Highway yesterday to exercise what I consider one of our greatest freedoms – “for the people, by the people.” Candidly, I have never been as upset or as disappointed over my choices for President in my life. Locally I am fine with our candidates but to pick ... (click for more)
