Dansby Charged With Being A Felon In Possession Of A Firearm And Ammunition

Federal authorities have charged Robert Leon Dansby with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition after he was stopped by Chattanooga Police Aug. 13 for execution of an outstanding state warrant.

Authorities said Dansby, 35, has felony convictions for possession of cocaine for resale, attempted possession of cocaine for resale and aggravated robbery.

Police said Dansby at first denied staying at 3222 5th Avenue, then he admitted doing so and said he had a firearm there for his personal protection.

Under a federal search warrant, agents found a loaded Colt Lawman .357 caliber revolver and a box of .357 ammunition at the residence. The firearm was on top of a dresser along with mail addressed to Dansby.
