Tommy Lee Carter, 61, of Hixson, suddenly died the evening of Tuesday, August 20, 2013.  

He was born February 20, 1952 in Chattanooga and was a painter by trade.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Carter; mother, Allene Barnes Carter; sisters, Donna Carter Hull and Patsy Carter Newsome.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Washer Carter; daughter, Rebecca (Erik) Gerholdt of Hixson; sons, Tommy Lee (Deloris) Carter Jr of Ooltewah and Jimmy Carlisle of Dunlap; brother-in-law, Charles (Kay) Washer of Rossville; sister-in-law, Charlene (Bill) Wood of Panama City.  He is also survived by his brothers, John (Mary) Carter of Graysville, Steve (Tammie) Carter of Rossville; David Carter and Sammy Carter of Graysville and Wayne (Angela) Carter of Hixson; sister, Gail (Keith) Clingan of Hixson; grandchildren, Blake Gerholdt, Reid Gerholdt, Megan Carter, Lyndsay Carter, Taylin Carter and Tommy Lee “Ty” Carter III; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Pastor Ted Painter officiating.  Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.  

The family will receive friends after 4 p.m. on Thursday, and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 877-3524.
