Paralegal Program Information Session Is Sept. 25

Chattanooga State Community College’s paralegal program has partnered with Olsen Law Firm and William & Mary School of Law to host a law school admissions informational session.

At this event, Rhianna Shabsin, assistant dean of Admission for William & Mary School of Law will present information that students need to apply to law school as well as provide an insight into America’s oldest law school. Dean Shabsin is a graduate of William & Mary School of Law, and a native of Tennessee. 

The event will be held on Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. in the faculty/staff dining room in the Omniplex on Chattanooga State’s main campus. Light hors d’oeuvres will be offered at the session, and will be sponsored by the Olsen Law Firm.

GPS Takes Best Delegation And Runner-Up Delegation At Model UN Conference

The Best Delegation (France) and Runner-Up Delegation (Mexico) awards both went to GPS at the Southeastern High School Model United nations conference.  GPS sponsor Glen Vey said the teams “distinguished themselves.” This is the third time in four years that GPS has been recognized as Best Delegation. Chattanooga State Boosts LaPaz Food Drive

Students, faculty and staff banded together in support of the annual food drive to La Paz Chattanooga. A total of 41 boxes of food were collected, packed and delivered on Monday in time for Thanksgiving. According to Dr. Katheryn Thompson, Spanish Club advisor, “It was the most boxes we ever have been able to deliver and it was all due to the support of our students and campus community.” ... 1 Dies, 1 Critically Injured In North Chattanooga House Fire

For the second time in three days, a house fire has resulted in tragedy with a 35-year-old woman dying and a man critically injured in North Chattanooga. At 10:13 a.m. on Wednesday, Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire with entrapment at 220 Houser St. The first firefighters on the scene saw flames shooting out windows and part of the roof. Appeal Dropped In $25 Million Lawsuit Filed Against Hennen's Restaurant By Lisa Barnes

An appeal has been dropped of a Circuit Court jury verdict that found Hennen's Restaurant not at fault in a $25 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Barnes. Circuit Court officials said the appeal was "voluntarily" dropped. It had been set to be reviewed by the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Lawlessness At Heritage Park

As a frequent visitor at Heritage Park in East Brainerd, I must say that the situation is becoming slightly out of control.  To start, parking is atrocious.  The unpaved lot contains nothing but loose gravel which has naturally given way to divots in the ground assuring you a few bumps.  Why isn't this area smoothed out?  It's not worth parking there anyways ...
