Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority Observes Labor Day Schedule

Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2013 in observance of Labor Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill & Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L. King Convenience Center.   All locations will reopen on Tuesday, September 3, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.  For more information call 706/277-2545. 

The Labor Day Holiday Schedule is as follows:

Saturday, Aug. 31 - All Locations Open - Normal Hours (7 a.m.-3 p.m.) 

Monday, Sept. 2– All Locations Closed 

Tuesday, Sept. 3 – All Locations Open (7 a.m.-6 p.m.)   (Westside Normally Closed) 

Wednesday, Sept. 4 – Resume Normal Operating Days and Hours (McGaughey Chapel Closed)


16-Year-Old Native American Flute Sensation Performs At Red Clay Pow Wow

Sixteen-year-old Native American flute sensation, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, producer and rising star Gareth Laffely will perform at Red Clay Pow Wow 2014 in Cleveland at Red Clay State Park on Saturday and Sunday.  Hours are 10 a.m. until dusk on Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday.  Admission is a $5 donation per car. Red Bank Protestors Say Police Out Of Control

Regular city business was overshadowed at the Red Bank Commission meeting Tuesday night by citizens protesting recent police actions. Outside city hall people holding signs lined the sidewalk and, in the time set aside for residents of the city to speak, the ones that did expressed disapproval of the police procedures surrounding a traffic stop that ended in an alleged beating. ...
