Area cyclists are invited to pedal their wheels for a good cause on Sept. 14 by participating in the 9th Annual “Ride To Provide” bike ride presented by Affordable Botox of Chattanooga. The event raises money to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities served by Open Arms Care.
Ride To Provide will take place Saturday, Sept. 14, at 8:30 a.m. at 6711 Mountain View Road in Ooltewah. The event offers two scenic routes – 26 miles or 62 miles – through some of Chattanooga’s countryside and rural landscapes.
Participants may register online at www.active.com, complete an entry form found at area bike shops or sign up the morning of the ride starting at 7 a.m. The early entry fee is $30 per rider or $35 per rider on the day of the event. All riders will receive an event T-shirt, goodie bag, support vehicles, restrooms and sag stops along the routes, and hot showers at the end of the ride. All skill levels are welcome at this family-friendly event.
The team at Open Arms Care strives to make a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities by offering 24 hour a day residential care, along with vocational and other services, officials said. All services are geared toward the specific needs of each individual client. Services include a safe home that promotes individual growth and development, as well as a day program that includes work and volunteer opportunities in a learning and therapeutic environment. Other services include medical services, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and more.
While funded primarily by Medicaid, some of the special equipment that provides a higher quality of life for a client or participation in special activities may not be fully covered; for example, eyeglasses and dentures are not covered by Medicaid. As a 501(c)(3) organization, gifts to Open Arms Care are tax deductible.
The 9th Annual Ride To Provide is made possible through the generosity of its presenting sponsor, Affordable Botox of Chattanooga and BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Static Hair Salon, East Ridge Bicycles, Kohl’s and Whaley Mowing Services.
