The Chattanooga Lookouts will host the Southern League North Division winners, the Tennessee Smokies, in a five-game series at AT&T Field that closes out the 2013 season. Game One is Thursday night at 7:15 p.m.

Chattanooga not only battled some very solid AA teams this summer, but also did battle with an unusually wet summer that hurt attendance.

The season will be remembered for the presence of the sensational former Cuban, Yasiel Puig, who went to the Dodgers after playing 40 games with the Lookouts. His presence seemed to jump-start Los Angeles as the Dodgers went from last to first in the NL West Division. After shutting out the Cubs Wednesday, 4-0, LA has a 9 1/2 game lead over the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fans will have, what will likely be, their final opportunity to watch Joc Pederson, the Dodger's top prospect, in action. 21-year old Pederson, in his first full-year of Double-A ball, is hitting .283 with 21 homers, 24 doubles, three triples, a .385 OBP, .599 slugging, zero errors and 30 stolen bases.

Two of the Dodgers top pitching prospects, Zach Lee and Chris Reed, will likely be starting for the final time as members of the Chattanooga Lookouts.

According to MLB.com, Lee is rated LA's top pitching prospect with Reed third behind former Lookout Matt Magill. Lee is 10-10 with a 3.22 ERA while Reed (4-10) has a 3.71 ERA. Lee has the second highest number of strikeouts in the Southern League with 131.

The Smokies feature the Cubs' top prospect, Javier Baez. The exciting 20-year old  who came up to the Smokies from Class-A has 35 home runs and 105 RBIs at two levels in 2013.

The Smokies will travel to the first-half champion Barons for the first game in the best-of-5 series in the Division Championship Series on Sept. 5.

Something Beautiful Happened Monday Night - Not The Debate

Monday, Sept. 26, our first presidential debate happened; no minds were changed.  Yet something beautiful and important happened.  The Atlanta Falcons, my team, played the New Orleans Saints.  Instead of some irrelevant, broad based, screw America protest, the opposing teams locked arms in unity. I was impressed. I have been a Falcon Fan since 1971 when WMOC AM ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Our 2.0 Embarrassment

Let’s pretend you are coming to a new and exciting world. You are on the jolly good ship “Mayflower” when some Miles Standish-type of a guy (he was the Pilgrim’s first cop) calls you into is presence and says, “Within two hours we are expected to stand on Plymouth Rock. Please come up with ten primary goals we should have in our public schools.” I believe you could do it within ... (click for more)
