1 Lane Of U.S. 64 Reopens After Rockslide At Ocoee Gorge
Friday, August 30, 2013
U.S. 64 at log mile 11 near SR-30 and Maddens Branch has reopened to one lane of traffic at the site of the recent rockslide, TDOT officials said Friday.
Crews finished final cleanup of the containment area behind the rockfall fence on Friday morning and have reopened the roadway to one lane for the Labor Day weekend.
Traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal during this time, and it will remain that way throughout the holiday weekend.
Next week, TDOT geotechnical engineers, along with TDOT headquarters and regional staff, will determine what to do at this area for a more permanent solution.
Additionally, there will be someone from TDOT on site at all times throughout the weekend to monitor the situation.
TDOT will have equipment in the immediate area to respond should it become necessary.
