Street Closings Announced For The Weekend

ML King Boulevard between Broad Street and Georgia Avenue and Market Street between East 8th Street and East 10th street will be closed from 5:30 p.m.-midnight on Friday, for the Nightfall Concert Series.  The 800 block of Cherry Street will be closed at ML King Boulevard and will only be accessible from East 8th Street. There will be limited handicapped parking in the 900 block of Georgia Avenue on the Miller Park side on the meters covered with Orange "reserved" bags.

South Crest Road from South Seminole Drive and the I-24 overpass to Waheela Drive will be closed from 6 a.m.-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, for the Missionary Ridge Road Race.

Duncan Avenue, between Beech Street and Willow Street will be closed from 2-9 p.m. on Saturday, for a Back to School and Birthday Block Party.

Reggie White Boulevard, between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday, for the Chattanooga Market.



Special Event Street Closings Announced For Friday

East 11th Street will be closed between Market Street and Columbia Street on Friday, from  11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  for the Patten Towers and Edney Building Holiday Block Party. MLK Day Parade To Be Held Jan. 15

The MLK Day Parade will be held along Martin Luther King Boulevard on Monday, Jan. 15. All of MLK Boulevard will be closed before, and during, the parade.  Closures will take place from 2:30-5:30 p.m.  The closure will be for the exclusion of vehicles only.  The public at large may not be denied pedestrian through access except in the cases of emergency. ... Driver Of Stolen Car Jumps Out; Leaves Pregnant Cousin In Vehicle As It Hits Pole, Wall, Creek

The driver of a stolen car jumped out, leaving his 15-week pregnant cousin in the vehicle as it hit a power pole and a wall before plunging into a creek. Michael Jalen Sawyer, 20, of Clinton, Tn., was charged with evading arrest, improper registration, reckless endangerment, theft of property over $10,000, failure to maintain lane and vandalism. Neighbor Takes Photo Of Burglar; Brian Alex Stone Arrested

A neighbor who went over to check on a house break-in has led to the arrest of Brian Alex Stone Jr. Stone, 23, of 3210 Broad St., is charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property. Police were notified on Dec. 1 that a burglary had just taken place on Trailwood Drive. The suspect was a black male with twists in his hair, who was driving a silver Dodge Caliber. ...
