  • Wednesday, September 11, 2013

An adult and child were injured on Tuesday when a car struck them in East Ridge. The one-year-old succumbed to his injuries and died while at the hospital.

At 7:02 p.m., East Ridge Police arrived at 3832 Kingwood Circle on a report of a pedestrian struck. Police discovered that an adult and a child were standing between two vehicles in front of the residence while another family member attempted to move one of the vehicles.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver did not realize the vehicle was in reverse and accidentally backed into the two.

The adult suffered an injury to his right leg, and the child received a serious injury. The child was transported to Children's Hospital at Erlanger by ambulance.

There are currently no charges pending in the incident.
