Shirley Capps Ricketts, 74, of Coulterville, TN, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Hospice of Chattanooga.
She was born July 23, 1939 in Sale Creek to the late James Clayton and Edith Pauline (Shirley) Capps; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ricketts.
Shirley was a homemaker, attended Sale Creek School, and was a member of Coulterville Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Debra (Fred) Howard of Sale Creek and Donna Brown of Richmond, VA; two sons, Tim (Terri) Ricketts of Maryville and Tom (Betty Lowery) Ricketts of Asheville, NC; brother, Don (Theresa) Capps of Dayton; six grandchildren, Deena (Chris) McBeath, Laura (Brendan) Gambrel, both of Somerset, KY, Jessica (Brian)Garner, Jennifer (Brian) Pressley, both of Asheville, NC, Samuel C. Howard, Kelly Kirkpatrick, both of Sale Creek, Caroline Bishop and Kenny Dyer, both of Hixson; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held Saturday, September 14 at noon in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Barry Purser and Rev. Bill Ewing officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Varner Cemetery in Soddy.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, TN where they will receive friends Friday, September 13 after 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga or the Humane Society.
