Chattanooga Police responded to a shooting at 510 Central Dr. on Wednesday at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Police located the victim, Ignacio Diaz-Velazquez, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left side. He was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The suspect, Durlan Johnson, was on scene and taken into custody. Ms. Johnson was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Ms. Johnson said she had come out of her apartment to confront Mr. Diaz-Velazquez about hitting her vehicle while it was parked. She said while she was trying to stop him, he was trying to drive off.
Ms. Johnson said she pulled her gun to try to get him to stop, but he pulled forward and struck the gun while it was in her hand and the gun went off.
She does not have a carry permit for the weapon.
The investigation is ongoing.
