An arrest was made in an East Ridge home burglary on Friday.
East Ridge Police responded on Friday at 7:30 a.m., to a possible residential burglary in progress at 1618 A Glowmont Drive. A neighbor observed a then unknown individual make entry into the residence after breaking out a window and alerted police.
When patrol officers arrived, a muddy footprint was observed on top of an A/C unit under the broken window, and officers could hear someone moving around inside the residence. Officers forced entry into the residence through a secured door and began searching the interior. Leon Harris, 23, of Dogwood Drive in Chattanooga, was found hiding under a child’s bed in a back bedroom. He was removed from under the bed and taken into custody.
Harris was found to be in possession of two containers of marijuana (totaling about two ounces) and to have moved a Playstation 3 video game console so as to be able to remove it from the residence. All three items were identified by the resident as the victim’s property.
Harris was charged with aggravated burglary, possession of Schedule VI controlled substance for resale, and theft.
