W. Jerry German, 69, of the Cleveland area, passed away on Friday afternoon, September 13, 2013 in a local hospital.
Jerry was born on April 24, 1944. He was of the Baptist faith. Jerry was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army after faithfully serving our country. Jerry worked at both the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant in Chattanooga and also Farmers Chemical Company. He was an avid collector of classic cars, enjoyed traveling and loved to watch old movies. Jerry also enjoyed sharing breakfast with his friends almost every day at the local Hardees where he termed it his “Hardees Breakfast Club”.
He was preceded in death by his father, William German; mother, Frances German Ensley; and step- father, Carl Ensley.
Jerry is survived by his long time companion, Karen Jones; one daughter, Rebecca Corbitt and her husband Larry of Richmond Hill, GA; one sister, Janice Ensley Watson and her husband Boyce; two grandchildren, Lacy Holmes of Ann Arbor, MI and Trey Holmes of Richmond Hill, GA; one nephew, Jamie Watson and his wife Darlena of Young Harris, GA; and numerous other extended family members and special friends.
A celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, September 17 at 7 p.m. at the Stuart Park Baptist Church located at 850 17th Street NW with the Reverend Earl Farris officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17 from 6-7 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital in Jerry’s memory.
