DAR Takes Part In Ringing Of Bells At Constitution Anniversary Ceremony

Members of the Nancy Ward Chapter Of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended a bell ringing salute Tuesday for the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution of the United States.  

Jessica ‘Raz’ Dumitru, Tennessee DAR state chairman of Constitution week, organized the event on the steps of the Hamilton County Courthouse. She welcomed members of the five DAR chapters private citizens, judges and  students.  

County Mayor Jim Coppinger spoke of the importance of the Constitution as the cornerstone of the nation’s government. He urged all citizens, especially young people, to read it and understand how it helped to build the nation.

The citizens attending rang their bells in unison with each other and those across the nation at similar ceremonies.

Members of the Chief John Ross DAR chapter gave each person a booklet of the Constitution.

Man Found Floating Near Manufacturers Road Was Steven Paul Calhoon, 34

The body found floating in the Tennessee River on Sunday morning downtown has been identified as 34-year-old Steven Paul Calhoon.
