George Wright, Jr. was born In Lincolnton, Georgia on July 14, 1942 and died on August 28, 2013.
He was the son of the late George Wright Sr. and Amanda Wright. He served in the U.S. Army as a MP - military police officer, and after serving his country was honorably discharged.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mitchel (Sidney) Wright and two sisters, Letha Ann Howes, and Hattie Mae Wright Howard (Lebron) Massengill.
He is survived by one daughter, Mecshell (Anthony) Wright Ramseur, five grandchildren, April Ramseur, Adarius Ramseur, Tiffany Wright, Shaun Wallace and Marion Wallace; his former wife, Fannie Branson Wright; two sisters, Mary Lizzie Durham of Augusta, GA, and Daisy Louise Southerland of Chattanooga; three nieces who cared for him during his extended illness, Carrie Durham, Dr. Jean Howard-Hill and LaShunda Hill; along with a host of other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, brother-in-law, family and friends.
Homegoing services are Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 10 a.m.
Viewing is Tuesday, Sept. 3, from 12-7 p.m. at the Advantage Chapel. He will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery. Family will gather at 216 Gillispie Road before and following services.
