Christopher Dale Whited, 24, of LaFayette, Ga., was arrested by Walker County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Thursday afternoon and charged with eight counts of residential burglary, according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

Sheriff Wilson said Whited’s modus operandi was to kick in the doors of homes around the LaFayette area and then steal jewelry. Whited would then sell the jewelry to gold buyers in the North Georgia and Chattanooga area.

The crime spree began on Aug. 29 and ended on Thursday.

Whited was booked into the Walker County Jail and is awaiting a bond hearing.  He will appear in Walker County Superior Court at a date to be determined.

Sheriff Wilson extended his appreciation to the LaFayette Police Department and Georgia State Patrol for their assistance in this investigation.
