TWRA To Participate In UT Woods And Wildlife Field Day

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be among the organizations participating in the Woods and Wildlife Field Day at the University of Tennessee Cumberland Forest located near Wartburg in Morgan County. The event is Thursday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

A program of the UT Forest Resources AgResearch and Education Center, the event will feature presentations on a variety of areas. These will include focus on feral hog trapping and control, forest ecology, natural resources management, silviculture, and wildlife habitat management.

TWRA staff along with representatives from the Tennessee Division of Forestry will be at the event to answer wildlife management and forestry-related questions.

Advance registration is required for planning purposes. A $10 registration fee will be collected on the day of the program which will go toward lunch, refreshments, and materials.

Haiman’s Legacy Continues Support On Alum Cave Trail After 19 Years

Friends of the Smokies was awarded a grant from the Richard Haiman National Parks Foundation for more than $18,000 to support reconstruction of Alum Cave Trail and backcountry privy improvements in Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP). Fishing Report From The TWRA

Here is the fishing report from the TWRA: Center Hill: Fishing is good.  Water temperature is 48 degrees; lake is fairly stable.  Bass:   Lots of bass are being caught on A-rigs, tailspinners and jigs on points and channel banks in 15-to-25 feet of water.  Crappie:   A few crappie are being caught around sunken brush piles on jigs in 20 feet ... Deonta Banks, 23, Shot On Wilcox Boulevard Early Sunday Morning

Deonta Banks, 23, was shot early Sunday morning on Wilcox Boulevard. At approximately  3 a.m.  the Chattanooga Police Department responded to shots fired at 3232 Wilcox Boulevard.  Upon arrival, Chattanooga police located a single victim, Deonta Banks, suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Man Stabbed In Domestic Dispute On Sunrise Lane Saturday Morning

A man was stabbed Saturday morning on Sunrise Lane.   At approximately  11:41  a.m., the Chattanooga Police Department responded to a reported stabbing at 309 Sunrise Lane.  Officers located a 45-year-old black male suffering from a non-life threatening stab wound.
