Ethel Mariah Gibson, 91, of Dalton, GA, died Friday morning, September 20, 2013 at Regency Park.
Ethel was born October 5, 1921 in Dalton, GA, a daughter of the late Glenn and Belle Joiner Chance; and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Deverall and Pauline Goins; and brothers, Leonard Chance and J.B. Chance.
Ethel was retired from Shaw Industries Plant #5 and was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Beverly Gibson of Cohutta, GA, Billy and Martha Gibson of Dalton, GA and James and Sherrie Gibson of Rocky Face, GA; grandchildren, Wendy Moore, Keith Gibson, Mark Gibson, David Gibson, Donna Hall, Laura Gibson and Chris Gibson; great-grandchildren, Matthew Frye, Hannah Hall, Joshuah Gibson, Corselien Gibson, Angela Gibson, Rachel Gibson, Destiny Moore, Caden Moore, Kaine Gibson, Gabe Gibson, Alex Gibson, Andrew Gibson, Amelia Gibson, Abe Gibson, Micaiah Gibson and Braxton Gibson; great-great-grandchildren, Tyce Curtis and Greenleigh Gibson; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Becky Chance; sister, Glennie Flood; special friend, Sheila Bramlett; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Ethel Mariah Gibson will be held Sunday, September 22, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Tim Lee and Reverend Brad Bailey officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Antioch Cemetery with David Gibson, Mark Gibson, Chris Gibson, Kaine Gibson, Matthew Frye and Glenn Chance serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, September 22 at Ponders Melrose Chapel who has charge of the arrangements.
