Youth Waterfowl Hunts Application Deadline For Bogota WMA, Thorny Cypress WMA Is Oct. 9

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is reminding all youth duck hunters and their parents that the deadline for applying for the youth-only waterfowl hunts at Bogota and Thorny Cypress Wildlife Management Areas is by midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The hunts are for youth ages six-15. The hunts will be held on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.

A computer drawing will be held to determine successful applicants. Youth may apply for these hunts at any TWRA license agent, at any of the four TWRA regional offices, or online at

tnwildlife.org/" target="_blank">www.tnwildlife.org. All successful applicants must be accompanied by at least one non-hunting adult, plus they may bring up to four additional youth hunters as their guests on the day of the hunt.


Trail Repair Work Beginning On Red Trail In Chickamauga Battlefield

The National Park Service is advising the beginning of repair work on a 1.09 mile section of the Red Trail located in the northwest corner of the Chickamauga Battlefield. Erlanger Health System CEO Kevin Spiegel has written Walker County Commissioner Bebe Heiskell to say that Erlanger would consider taking payments on the $8,705,000 Hutcheson debt.
