A majority of County Commission members on Wednesday agreed to post a list of their "discretionary" spending on the commission website.
Each of the nine commission members is allotted $100,000 per year to spend as they please on district or countywide projects.
Chairman Fred Skillern also said he wants to see quarterly updates on the individual spending.
He said the initial report will list individual discretionary spending dating back to the start of the nine commissioners' terms.
Commissioner Marty Haynes, who brought up the issue, said getting the information on the county website was one of his campaign promises.
Commissioner Larry Henry said, "I certainly agree on doing this," though he said the listing "has not been any deep, dark secret." He said a citizen could find out by calling the commission office.
However, Commissioner Greg Beck said the commission staff should not be tied up continually responding on requests regarding the special spending.
Commissioner Joe Graham said his predecessor in District 6 (John Brooks) "cleaned out the account completely on his pet projects. Those were not beneficial to District 6."
Commissioner Haynes said he believes that when citizens see where the money is going "they will be very understanding." He said most of the funding "goes to the schools."
