Burton Charged With Trying To Choke, Run Over Relative

Garrett Dean Burton is facing charges of assaulting a relative at a residence on Hansley Drive. 

Burton, 33, of 6303 Champion Road, is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and vandalism.

In the incident on Wednesday, Lorrie Lambert said Burton came to her residence and kicked in the front door. She said he was angry at her son and accused him of inappropriate conduct with a minor.

She said Burton said he was going to kill Sanders and began putting his hands around his neck and choking him. She said he then threw him to the floor. Ms. Lambert said she intervened and her son was able to run outside. She said Burton got into his car and tried to run over Sanders.

Police found the front glass door shattered and blood in numerous rooms of the house. There were numerous car tracks in the front yard.

Police said the victim was bleeding from his foot, hand and arm and he had bruises around his right shoulder and neck.
