Big plays made in crucial situations are remembered and talked about for years.
Silverdale senior Joshua Rogers made one of those "big plays" as he tackled Sweetwater's illusive quarterback Andrew Barr a yard short of a first down on a fourth down run at the Silverdale 21 with 10 seconds remaining in the game.
The tackle secured the host Silverdale's 24-21 high school football win as the Seahawks improve to school record 6-0 before a near-capacity crowd Friday night and Sweetwater goes to 3-2.
"I call our 12 seniors the dirty dozen and Joshua is one of the 12 as many play both ways and have been a real factor in our success this season," said Silverdale coach Al Rogers.
Rogers also led the way on offense with 73 rushing yards as the four horsemen - senior backs Matt Millard (35), Matt McCulley(40), Lincoln Phillips (20) and Rogers (73) - combined for 168 yards on the ground and one score (Phillips' 9 yard run in the second quarter).
"Those four complement each other, block for each other and are basically interchangeable parts on our offense," said coach Rogers.
But it was the Seahawk defense which secured the win.
Trailing 24-14, Sweetwater recovered a Silverdale fumble at the Seahawk 19 at 4:19 of the fourth.
Barr then threw his third touchdown of the night this one to Payton Robinette and Sammy Baker's extra point made it a three point game with 3:25 to play.
Sweetwater then forced a Silverdale punt, gained possession at their own 31 with 1:38 remaining and drove to the Silverdale 21 before Rogers' heroics.
"Silverdale did a good job of stopping our running game (31 yards on the ground)," said Sweetwater coach Mike Martin.
"Our inability to be consistent was the difference in the game. We dug ourselves a hole (down 10 in the fourth quarter), but still had a chance to win at the end."
Swapping Touchdowns: Barr and Silverdale quarterback Nathan Keylon swapped touchdown passes in the first half as Barr threw 29 yard scoring strikes first to Trent Wattenbarger for a 7-0 lead and another 29 yarder to Ashaunde Thaxton for a 14-7 advantage, while Keylon and tight end Colton Rogers teamed up on a 46 yard scoring route to even the score at 7.
Silverdale then added two other scores to lead 21-14 at intermission as Phillips ran 8 yards around left end at 7:25 of the second quarter to even the score at 14 and sub QB Tanner Webb hit Josh Rogers fro 29 yards to the Sweetwater end zone for the seven point lead at half.
Silvderdale's Michael Dellinger converted on a 23 yard field goal at 5:14 of the third for s 24-14 lead before the visiting Chargers mounted a fourth quarter comeback.
Nathan Keyon 5-9 passing for 73 yards and one TD
Tanner Webb 8-13 passing 116 yarda and one TD
Andrew Barr 13-29 passing 176 yards and 3 TDs
Good Defense: Silverdale defensive back Jordan Delashmitt had two interceptions while Lincoln Phillips had four quarterback sacks.
