Three Dalton State Employees Accepted Into Executive Leadership Programs

Saturday, September 28, 2013

Three from Dalton State College have been accepted into two University System of Georgia executive leadership programs.

Nick Henry, Assistant Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, and Jami Hall, Director of Student Life,  have been chosen for the Executive Leadership Institute, and Randall Griffus, Dean of the School of Science and Technology and Assistant Professor of Mathematics, has been selected for the Accelerated Leadership Academy.

Mr. Henry, Ms. Hall, and Mr. Griffus were selected along with other individuals in leadership positions in higher education from around the state to participate in the programs, which consist of rigorous testing and various training opportunities to optimize their leadership skills and abilities.

“The most important thing that I look to learn from ELI is how to become a more effective leader,” said Mr. Henry.  Both he and Ms. Hall will be spending a total of 121 hours of their time over a period of eight months in independent study, teleconferences, action learning, and group learning formats. “Leadership has always been a fascinating topic to me, and I am a firm believer that leadership is a tool that always needs sharpening,” said Ms. Hall.

In order to be chosen for the Accelerated Leadership Academy, an individual must have first completed the Executive Leadership Institute. “I am looking forward to the ALA. The Executive Leadership Institute was very beneficial, and I learned a lot about myself,” said Mr. Griffus.

In the Accelerated Leadership Academy, Mr. Griffus will undergo leadership potential assessments, development and career path planning, executive coaching on how to improve leadership effectiveness, and mentoring from an executive leader who currently works in his career path. Additionally, he will attend learning forums, and participate in team action learning, peer mentoring, and networking.
