A Red Bank woman who was listed as a "victim" in the robbery and murder of a Red Bank businessman is the same person who was charged in the setup robbery of a man on Sept. 2.

Crystal Brewer (AKA Boyd/Williams), 30, of 6 Ormand Dr., is charged with aggravated robbery.

Ms. Brewer was at the scene when Winston Gant, father of the wife of House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick, was shot during a robbery July 28, 2012. He died three days later.

Ms. Brewer has not been charged in the Gant murder and robbery, though two other men are facing charges.

In the latest case, Zenard Davis said he was drinking wine with Ms. Brewer when she said she was going to use the restroom. Instead, he said, she opened the door and let three black males inside.

He said all three intruders had handguns and they ordered him to the floor. He said one of the men held a gun on him while Ms. Boyd and the other two went upstairs. They took a small safe from his bedroom closet.

He said they also took two cell phones, a wallet that contained over $1,300, and a check.

The trio left with Ms. Brewer, it was stated.

The victim was struck several times in the face during the robbery.

Police lifted several fingerprints off of two wine bottles and they came back as matching those of Ms. Brewer, it was stated.

Arrested In the Gant murder was Segmund Jermaine Boyd, 40, on a charge of felony murder, especially aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery.

A person familiar with the case said Ms. Brewer was the Gant housekeeper and that she and Boyd are married and have a son.

Boyd has one prior conviction for theft (Class C felony).

In addition to Boyd, detectives arrested Adrian Ladon Gustus.  Gustus has numerous prior convictions as well as pending criminal charges that include aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, narcotics violations, felony possession of a weapon with prior crimes of violence, attempted second-degree murder (two counts), 3rd offense DUI and habitual motor vehicle offender.

Mr. Gant was a long-time resident and businessman of Red Bank.

Anyone having information should call the Red Bank Police Department, Major Crimes Division at 875-0167 or police communications at 877-2481.

Shortly after midnight on July 28, the Red Bank Police Department responded to the shooting at 2401 Briggs Ave., where Mr. Gant was found shot. He was transported to the hospital where he died three days later.

Witnesses stated that Gustus demanded money from the businessman and a struggle ensued before Mr. Gant was shot. Gustus took the victim’s wallet and cell phone during the incident, police said.

In Agreement With Rep. Womick's Bill

I agree wholeheartedly with the bill by Rep. Womick that county clerks only marry couples of the opposite sex, but I doubt that the present Supreme Stupids would change the position of the court and fear that the time, energy and money spent to defend a legal action brought by the liberal supporters of the present state of the law would be for nothing.  There is a higher ... Roy Exum: A Very Silly Apology

It didn’t get a lot of attention, as well it should not have, but when I heard Japanese giant Mitsubishi was offered an apology for heinous war crimes that took place during World War II, I thought it was an ill-conceived publicity stunt. But, no, in a solemn ceremony last month hosted by the Museum of Tolerance at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, that is exactly what ... (click for more)
