Greater Chattanooga Democratic Women's Club Meets Sept. 10 With Judge Poole As Speaker

The Greater Chattanooga Democratic Women's Club will hold its monthly meeting next Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the IBEW Union Hall located at 3922 Volunteer Drive.

The Honorable Don W. Poole, Criminal Court Judge of Division III,  will be the guest speaker.  Judge Poole went onto the bench in Hamilton County in 2006.  A graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, he began his career as a clerk in the Tennessee Supreme court, served as an assistant istrict attorney before having his own private law practice.

Information about upcoming State Federation meetings and the annual Women's Luncheon will also be discussed.

Street Closures For Thursday And Friday

Here are the street closures for Thursday: Grateful Gobbler 5K: from 7-11 a.m.  River Street between Renaissance Park and Coolidge Park will be closed.  Market Street will be closed from Frazier Avenue to Martin Luther King Boulevard.  The right lane on Cherokee Boulevard will also be closed from Manufacturers Road to Market Street.  For more information, ... Monica McMillon, 37, Shot And Killed In Alton Park On Tuesday Night; 2 Shot On Holtzclaw Avenue

Monica McMillon, 37, was shot and killed in Alton Park on Tuesday night. Then several hours later, two people were shot on Holtzclaw Avenue. The Chattanooga Police responded to the 3800 block of Highland Ave. on the report of a shooting. Once on scene police located one victim inside a residence.
