Gary Donald Coley, 76, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 5, 2013
Gary was born in Talladega, AL, to the late Malcolm and Willie Davis Coley on Aug. 5, 1937.
Gary Donald Coley graduated from Mumford High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Athens State University. He was married to Barbara Ann Jones on July 3, 1957.
Gary D. Coley had a career in computer science for G.E., Computer Science Corporation and Tennessee Valley Authority.
He was a member of Hixson United Methodist Church, Sertoma Club, where he was awarded the distinguished service award for 35 years and an avid golfer and member of Creek’s Bend Golf Club.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Malcolm and Willie Belle Coley; brothers, Malcolm Coley, Jr., Allen Coley, Lamar Coley; and sister, Frances Purdy.
Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Ann Coley; son, Gregory Donald Coley; daughters, Teresa Ann Coley and Melissa Marie Crosby; brothers, Jerry Coley, Robert Coley; sisters, Martha Wells, Sarah Hughes, Johnnie (Pat) Powell; and granddaughters, Reede Neutze and Joi Marie Crosby.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 9, from 12-2:30 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel.
Funeral services for Gary will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Reed Shell and Reverend Paul Longmire officiating.
Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
