5 Individuals Charged With Illegal Baiting And Killing Of A Black Bear In Blount County

The TWRA has charged five individuals with illegally baiting and killing a black bear in Blount County

The arrests came after extended surveillance of a bait site on Chilhowie Mountain.

Five TWRA officers were watching a site where barrels were baited with chocolate candy.

Around midnight, a 400-pound bear was killed after being pursued by dogs.

Bear hunting season does not open until Sept. 30.
