On the issue of city benefits for same-sex partners, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke said, “I believe that everyone should be treated equally. We are examining the best ways for the city of Chattanooga to ensure the equal treatment of all our city employees.”
Collegedale recently extended the benefits to same-sex couples, then later gave them to couples who live together and are not married.
Chattanooga City Councilman Chris Anderson recently led a rally at City Hall in favor of the city approving the same-sex benefits.
Councilwoman Carol Berz spoke at the rally in support.
