Charges have been upgraded against a 54-year-old Trenton, Ga., woman police say is responsible for the traffic death of a man on a moped in St. Elmo.

Betty Jean Mundy was again taken into custody after the Grand Jury indicted her for vehicular homicide, reckless aggravated assault, DUI, following too closely and failure to maintain lane.

David Joe Bruce, 56, was killed in a hit-and-run accident last December.

Ms. Mundy was initially charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death or serious injury.

Police said the victim was riding a moped northbound on St. Elmo Avenue when he was struck by another vehicle that was also northbound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene, but crashed a few blocks away while striking another car and a telephone pole on Tennessee Avenue. Traffic Investigators detained Ms. Mundy after the second wreck.

The wreck happened in the late afternoon on 44th Street.
