Free College Financial Aid Workshop Is Jan. 25

PEF and partners will host a free college financial aid workshop, "College Goal Tennessee 2014," on Saturday, Jan. 25, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the UTC University Center at 615 McCallie Ave.   

High school students, parents and educators are invited to learn how students can succeed in college and how to apply for financial aid. There will be volunteers on site to help fill out Free Application for Student Aid forms - the federal financial aid form that students/parents are required to file for students to be eligible to receive any state or federal aid.

A free lunch will be provided, so participants must register at http://youngandwiser.org. 

This free workshop is sponsored by PEF, UTC, Young & Wiser, Inc., College Goal Tennessee & Southern Association for College Admission Counseling.

GNTC Graduate Shadae Yancey-Warren Named Alumna Of The Year By The Technical College System Of Georgia Foundation

Shadae Yancey-Warren of Rome and Mark Haney of Marietta were named the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Alumni of the Year by the TCSG Foundation Thursday evening. Clerk Shot During Holdup At Lee Highway Convenience Store Early Saturday Morning

A clerk was shot during a holdup at a convenience store on Lee Highway early Saturday morning. Paul Evans, 24, has non-life threatening injuries. Woman Shot Twice By Estranged Boyfriend In Front Of Multiple People At Her Home In Dalton

A woman's estranged boyfriend entered her residence in Dalton on Friday night and shot her twice in front of a group of people, authorities said. Heather Renee Griffin, 42, was transported to Hamilton Medical Center and later transferred to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Police are searching for Bertram Gerome Beck in the incident.
