Souper Bowl Adult Fellowship Is Jan. 16 At Signal Mountain Baptist

The annual Adult Fellowship Souper Bowl at Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Av e., will be Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Christian Life Center. Everyone is asked to prepare soup, chili, stew, chowder, cornbread or dessert. Jars with lids will be needed after the meal when some of the remaining food will be packaged for delivery to homebound Adult Fellowship members.
  Wear the colors of your favorite professional, college or high school team.
 
"Hope That Perseveres" will be the topic for Dr. Steven Wright Sunday, Jan. 12, at the 11 a.m. worship service. His text will be I Peter 3-9.Sunday school is at 9:45.

Storm Costs EPB $2.5 Million; Smart Grid Helped Ease The Pain

Tuesday night's fierce storm cost EPB an estimated $2.5 million, President David Wade said Friday. He said the city utility will have to bear all the cost - unlike when it got federal aid after spending $18 million following tornadoes that raked the Chattanooga area in 2012. Firefighters Respond To 2 Fires Overnight

Chattanooga firefighters responded to a house fire and a commercial fire overnight. The alarm for the house fire was received at 9:14 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters with four fire companies responded to 52 W. 27th St., where light smoke was showing from the rear of the structure.
